Event Navigation

General assembly leaders have placed proposed amendments to North Carolina's constitution on the ballot this fall. These proposed amendments will affect fundamental aspects of government: voting, taxation and the separation of powers. What are these amendments really about? Who might benefit from them and whom might they hurt? What's the role of a state constitution anyway? A panel of experts with different perspectives discuss these questions and answer yours.

Panel Members include:

  • Gerry Cohen – former director of Legislative Drafting and Special Counsel, NC General Assembly
  • Becki Gray – Senior Vice President, John Locke Foundation
  • Jaclyn Maffetore – Staff Attorney, Southern Coalition for Social Justice
  • Jim Zink – Associate Professor, NC State Political Science Department

Moderated by Mark Nance  – Associate Professor, NC State Political Science Department; Board Member, Common Cause North Carolina
