An Afternoon of Achievements, Foreign Languages and Literatures Students Receive Awards
On April 25th, the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures joined faculty, staff, relatives, and friends in recognizing its top students for their excellence and academic prowess.
11 Students Recognized for Prestigious National Awards
Eleven Humanities and Social Sciences students recently received or were named finalists for prestigious national awards. Recipients of the various scholarships and grants will teach and/or study critical languages abroad during the coming months. The award winners and finalists were honored by several different programs.
In the Spotlight: Japanese Lecturer Keiko Ueda
Faculty at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures represent a wide array of teaching philosophies. A diversity that contributes to the enriching education our students experience. Lecturer of Japanese, Keiko Ueda, constructs a collaborative and familial learning environment in her classrooms. As the winner of the 2013 Outstanding CHASS Lecturer Award, Ueda’s efforts have not gone unnoticed by her colleagues.
Ceremony Recognizes Best Graduating Seniors
Foreign Languages and Literatures Department Head Dr. Ruth Gross and Assistant Department Head Dr. Dudley Marchi welcomed faculty, students, families, and friends to the 2017 Outstanding Graduating Seniors Award Ceremony celebrated last Wednesday April 26 from 3:30 to 5pm at Caldwell Lounge.
